From 2002 through 2014, first spring arrivals sightings were solicited and vetted for all 83 of Michigan's counties with the objective of determining the earliest reports for each county. About 5000 sightings were provided by members of the public, and about 60% of these came through Lanny Chambers who was operating the best arrival map for the entire country. From 2015 to 2019, arrival dates (far fewer) were obtained through eBird. The resulting map of this effort is presented below.
